The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) – the leading business association representing the innovation economy and its ecosystem – will convene its annual Sacramento Advocacy Day today to bring lawmakers and industry leaders together for meaningful conversations on California’s leading role in developing and deploying responsible artificial intelligence (AI).
The event, hosted by SVLG’s Institute for California AI Policy (I-CAP), will feature compelling discussions on how lawmakers can advance balanced and responsible policy solutions that ensure California remains a global hub for AI innovation.
SVLG CEO Ahmad Thomas today applauded the White House, which today announced plans to invest over $5 billion in semiconductor-related research, development, and workforce needs, to advance President Biden’s goals of driving R&D in the United States through the CHIPS for America program. Thomas noted that California remains well-positioned to offer the highest return on investment for these federal funds.

The proposed reforms are essential to position California to compete not only for federal dollars but also private-sector investments at a time of great economic volatility and uncertainty.
