On behalf of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, I commend Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) for convening leaders from AI companies and venture capital firms, academics, and labor leaders in Washington DC this week to discuss the responsible deployment of this transformative technology.

In Senator Schumer’s closing remarks, he asserted that “all of the experts in today’s Forum called for robust, sustained federal investment in private and public sectors to achieve our goals of American-led transformative and sustainable innovation in AI.”

The future of AI is one of immense promise, but it also raises legitimate safety and ethical considerations. It is heartening to see leaders at the both the state and federal level address these issues head-on.

As the premier business association representing the innovation economy, SVLG welcomes the opportunity to directly engage and help educate policymakers and stakeholders at the federal, state, and local level on this very important topic. This way we can ensure both the nation, and Silicon Valley continue to lead the way in the responsible adoption of AI systems and the related technologies.

These collaborative efforts will ensure a brighter future where both industry and government can harness AI benefits responsibly for the advancement of society.
