HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge, Chief Executives Mellody Hobson of Ariel Investments and Enrique Lores of HP Inc. to Highlight Industry-Leading DEI Solutions at Nov. 19 Silicon Valley Leadership Group Summit — SVLG’s ‘Innovating Equity’ Summit to Also Include a Panel Discussion on Board Diversity Organized in Partnership with The Board Challenge

SAN JOSÉ, CA (Nov 15, 2021) — The Honorable Marcia L. Fudge, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will deliver opening remarks at the ‘Innovating Equity’ summit organized by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group on Friday, Nov. 19. Secretary Fudge will discuss the Administration’s efforts to promote greater access to affordable housing and put an end to discriminatory practices in the U.S. housing market.

 
The SVLG summit – presented by Genentech, the San Francisco 49ers, and Blue Shield of California –is centered around the question: “How do we turn intent into action when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion.” The highlight of the summit will be a candid conversation with the nation’s top Black and Latinx business leaders about how to tackle the slow pace of progress on DEI issues in Silicon Valley, featuring Mellody Hobson, Co-CEO and President of Ariel Investments, and Enrique Lores,President and CEO of HP Inc.
 
“Creating a more inclusive and future for Silicon Valley requires not only shining a light on the systemic inequalities that persist but also highlighting the bold leaders and innovative solutions that are driving meaningful progress. By bringing together some of the nation’s top diverse leaders from the public and private sector, we can help accelerate the pace and broaden the scale of this process,” said SVLG CEO Ahmad Thomas.
 
The slate of content from SVLG is designed to highlight public and private sector solutions geared towards galvanizing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for Silicon Valley and beyond. It will include a panel discussion on board diversity organized in partnership with The Board Challenge, as well as a series of Inclusive Conversations around public and private sector DEI priorities.
