Governor Newsom recently signed an extensive package of housing bills, delivering important progress on tackling the state’s housing affordability and production crisis. SVLG was proud to engage on several measures, including co-sponsoring AB 1114 by Assemblymember Haney, which will address excessive permitting and construction timelines in San Francisco; supporting SB 423 by Senator Wiener, which reauthorizes SB 35, one of the state’s most impactful housing streamlining policies; and supporting AB 281 by Assemblymember Grayson, which ensures that housing projects are reviewed by special districts in a timely manner.
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) – today announced plans to launch three new initiatives – first, the Zero-Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) Task Force, second, the Climate Bond Task Force, and third, the Working Group on Transmission + Interconnection – as part of an ongoing initiative to advance sustainable climate solutions, drive job creation, and increase investment in clean and reliable energy infrastructure across Silicon Valley and the state of California.
As the leading organization representing the innovation economy and its ecosystem, SVLG supports the Governor’s proposals to streamline CEQA. These clean infrastructure projects – like water, clean transportation projects like Zero Emission Vehicle charging infrastructure and rail upgrades, clean energy and semiconductor or microelectronic research and development facilities – will promote jobs, strengthen California’s competitiveness, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The proposed reforms are essential to position California to compete not only for federal dollars but also private-sector investments at a time of great economic volatility and uncertainty.
