Teacher Diversity Forum, presented by IBM

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group invites you to join us at San Jose State University on October 12 from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. PDT for a Teacher Diversity Forum, presented by IBM.

As part of SVLG’s commitment to fostering high-quality education in our region and ensuring the readiness of our future workforce, we are convening a special forum this fall to dive into K-12 teacher preparedness. During this special forum, we’ll have the chance to hear about the successful teaching credential program at San Jose State University, which has increased by over 40% in size since 2018. Significantly, almost the entirety of that increase has come from first-generation Latinx and Asian American program participants.  During this event, we’ll hear first-hand from the faculty who designed the program about how it has evolved, and applicable lessons for other programs and school districts who are also exploring solutions to the chronic teacher shortage. We’ll also hear from current participants and alumni who are teaching at K-12 schools in our region.

The event will also include a post-program reception with elected officials, educators, nonprofit and industry leads.

Registration can be found below. We hope you and your colleagues will join the discussion!
