Tim McRae is the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s Senior Vice President, Sustainable Growth. He oversees Group’s Energy, Environment, Housing and Transportation work, the policy areas covered by the Sustainable Growth team. His responsibilities include legislative and administrative advocacy and helping produce programs and events. Prior to his joining the Leadership Group in 2013, he developed commercial wind projects for Aries Power and Industrial, worked on sustainability and energy efficiency for PG&E, advised on climate change policy for the British government, and worked on a variety of legislative lobbying, administrative lobbying, and statewide ballot measure campaigns for the Planning and Conservation League in Sacramento.
Tim is an expert on clean energy policy and speaks regularly on energy topics in the media and at conferences. He has been interviewed for the local ABC and CBS affiliate TV stations and on CBS Radio. He has also been published in the Sacramento Bee, the Mercury News, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
A graduate of Georgetown University and UC Davis law school, Tim serves as the Board President for the local environmental group Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful. In his free time, Tim enjoys hiking trails near and far and playing in the Brazilian Samba style percussion group Bloco Do Sol.
