Zoom CEO Eric Yuan Appointed New Vice Chair
SAN JOSE, CA – September 25, 2020 – The Silicon Valley Leadership Group today announced several changes to its board of directors with San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York appointed Chair replacing outgoing Chair Steve Milligan who retired from the board. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan was appointed Vice Chair and PwC’s US and Global New Ventures founder Vicki Huff Eckert was named its new Treasurer. Current Vice Chair and Co-founder of Aura, James Gutierrez, will continue in his role. President of the Board Ahmad Thomas was appointed when he became CEO of the Leadership Group.
“I join the entire board in thanking Steve Milligan for his leadership and service to the Leadership Group and am very excited about tackling the important work ahead of us,” said Jed York. “This board identified its key priorities for the Leadership Group with racial justice, education, housing and transportation taking the forefront. We are also working with our members to address more near-term challenges like the global pandemic.”
“This executive board is second-to-none. Our executives represent the wide variety of businesses and organizations that make up the Leadership Group’s 350+ member companies,” said Ahmad Thomas. “I am confident that we are all working from the same page to deliver impactful changes to our member companies, the Silicon Valley community, the state and even the country at-large.”
Thomas, who joined the Leadership Group as CEO in August, is already underway with plans to create a roadmap of actionable solutions and initiatives to address racial and gender disparities in the tech industry from the C-suite and boardroom to the staff levels. He and the Leadership Group believe that diversity and inclusion are not just a moral imperative, but a business and competitive necessity proven by studies that show a link between diversity and both profitability and innovation.
“We represent the most innovative and progressive companies in the world, and I am proud to join the rest of the executive board in our commitment to making the Leadership Group one of the leading change agents in the business world,” said Eric Yuan.
