SAN JOSE, CA – The Silicon Valley Leadership Group is proud to announce that its board of directors approved six new board members to join the ranks of the more than 50 board members who commit their time, talent and treasure to advance community goals that create a positive economic and social impact across the Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Through their outcome driven philosophy and belief that we are all better together, the board of directors advances proactive solutions in the areas of education, environment, energy, government, health care, housing, technology and innovation, tax policies, and transportation.

Don Antonucci
Senior Vice President, Employer Markets
Blue Shield of California

Antonucci is responsible for the management and performance of the 4-million-member nonprofit’s membership in Employer Markets and for creating a compelling value proposition across key lines of employer business.

Prior to joining Blue Shield, Antonucci served as the chief business development officer of 10xHealth. Previously, he served as president of Regence BlueCross and BlueShield of Oregon. He graduated from the State University of New York College at Cortland with a BA in Political Science and earned his MA in public policy analysis and administration from Binghamton University.

Anil Chakravarthy
Chief Executive Officer
Informatica

Since 2016 Chakravarthy has defined the strategy for the next phase of Informatica’s growth as the chief executive officer. He moved into the role after a stint as the executive vice president and chief product officer responsible for product development, management and marketing. Prior to Informatica, Chakravarthy held leadership roles at Symantec Corporation including executive vice president of Information Security.

Chakravarthy received a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Varanasi, India. Additionally, Chakravarthy received his Master of Science and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gary S. Guthart, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer, Member of the Board of Directors Intuitive Surgical

CEO since January 2010, Dr. Guthart has more than 25 years of medical, engineering, scientific, and management experience and has been with Intuitive Surgical since its inception in 1996. He served as president of Intuitive from 2007 to 2018 when the Office of the President was formed. Prior to that, Dr. Guthart served as Chief Operating Officer and has held various engineering management roles.

Before joining Intuitive, Dr. Guthart was part of the core team developing foundational technology for computer enhanced-surgery at SRI International (formerly Stanford Research Institute). Dr. Guthart received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the California Institute of Technology.

Judy C. Miner
Chancellor
Foothill-De Anza Community College

Working as a higher education administrator since 1977 and in the California Community Colleges since 1979, Miner assumed the role of chancellor in 2015 after holding numerous administrative positions in instruction, student services, and human resources at City College of San Francisco, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, De Anza College, and most recently at Foothill College where she served as president from 2007 to 2015.

Miner earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in history and French at Lone Mountain College in San Francisco; her M.A. in history at that same college; and her Ed.D. in organization and leadership (with a concentration in education law) from the University of San Francisco.

Father Kevin O’Brien, S.J.
President
Santa Clara University

A former practicing attorney, Kevin O’Brien, S.J., brings to Santa Clara extensive experience in leadership at Jesuit universities. For eight years, he served at Georgetown University, including five years as vice president for mission and ministry. Before becoming president, he served as dean of Santa Clara’s Jesuit School of Theology, an international center for the study of theology and ministry located in Berkeley.

Father O’Brien holds a master’s degree in philosophy from Fordham University and a Master of Divinity and a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology, now part of Boston College. He has a B.A. in government from Georgetown and a law degree from University of Florida.

Puneet Sarin
Worldwide President

Puneet Sarin is a highly accomplished health care industry executive with more than 20 years of proven global experience in accelerating growth and delivering financial performance.

An established leader in the life sciences and clinical in vitro diagnostics industry, Puneet is currently President of BD Biosciences, a pioneer and leader in flow cytometry and single-cell genomics solutions for scientific research and clinical laboratories. Appointed in 2019, Puneet is responsible for the strategic, operational, and commercial performance across the $1.2B business.

Prior to joining BD, Puneet was senior vice president and general manager of the Chemistry and Immunoassay business unit at Beckman Coulter. Puneet holds a Bachelor of Science from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and earned his MBA from Emory University.
