NEA’s President-Elect Becky Pringle to Deliver Opening Keynote Address at Education Summit 2020

CEO Ahmad Thomas to Lead Closing Keynote Conversation with IBM’s Laura Guio

San Jose, CA – August 12, 2020 – It was announced today that Becky Pringle, President-elect of the National Education Association, and the highest-ranking African American female labor leader in the U.S., will deliver the opening keynote at Education Summit 2020. Becky is expected to talk about her movement to reclaim public education as a common good and foundation of our democracy and transform it into a racially and socially just and equitable system.

It was also announced that newly appointed Leadership Group CEO Ahmad Thomas will lead the closing keynote conversation with IBM’s Laura Guio. Their discussion will include the effect of COVID-19 on underserved communities, what corporations can do to support these communities and “New Collar” educational alternatives to the four-year degree.

The Summit convenes leaders from business, education and government for one of California’s premier education policy and talent development conferences.

Framed by COVID-19 and tensions in the wake of George Floyd, with legislators, school administrators, teachers and parents operating – literally – in separate spaces, this year’s convening has become a crucial information-sharing forum.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Interact with key local, state and national decision makers in brief, timely panels, active Q&A and topic-based networking rooms.
  • Get the latest updates on school reopening straight from school leads.
  • Discover how top CLOs are reimagining Learning and Development to drive equity and fuel corporate success.
  • Help shape teaching and learning across schools and industry for a post-COVID and post-George Floyd world.
