San José, CA (September 23, 2021) — “As one of the first business groups to prioritize aggressively fighting climate change, SVLG applauds the leadership of Governor Newsom today to make the largest investment in state history to address its impacts and protect our communities. We need innovative solutions and bold action now, if we are going to secure California’s innovation ecosystem and protect our communities against worsening wildfires, rising sea levels and more severe periods of drought. That action came today and we are delighted that the Governor signed SB 1 as part of his climate package, a critical tool to fortify against sea level rise here in the Bay Area. We also applaud the Newsom Administration’s historic $3.9 billion investment in Zero Emissions Vehicles and infrastructure to transform the market and put us on the path to meeting the state’s goal of all new electric car sales by 2035. These investments are a strong step towards ensuring California and our economy are resilient as we confront the climate crisis.”
