“This evening the California Post published a story that presents a false and misleading picture of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.
“The most glaring example of how this story gets things wrong: its entire premise is based on a falsehood. SVLG’s Executive Board unanimously voted on August 11 to select Tarkan Maner, President of Nutanix, as our next Board Chair. This followed a collaborative process, which ultimately concluded earlier this summer. At no point was any board officer asked to leave the Board of Directors. Yet, the story clearly suggested the Board transition was a result of events reported in the media. This is patently false.
“Beyond this, the story mischaracterizes our financial outlook and organizational strength, along with our efforts to launch a new strategically aligned organization, the California Innovation Foundation. Simply put, we have transformed our structure, operations, and core focus areas to build a strong foundation for the future.
“We do not typically respond to such grossly inaccurate or misleading reporting. But we will not allow a story riddled with errors and innuendo from unnamed sources to define SVLG’s work.
“SVLG will continue sharing our vision for the future, including our Future Forward agenda, the leadership of the Institute for California AI Policy, ongoing advocacy in the region and in Sacramento, and the California Innovation Foundation’s new role to ensure the innovation economy creates opportunity across California.”
