California’s Climate Leadership: Policies, Investments, and Challenges
Last month, Governor Newsom said, “We (California) don’t imitate, we’re a model to the world. In climate, we want to continue to assert that leadership and continue to raise the bar.“
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group is hosting Lauren Sanchez, Governor Newsom’s Senior Climate Advisor. Lauren has worked on climate policy at CalEPA, the Air Resources Board, and the U.S. Department of State. She is a key architect of the Governor’s Climate investments, as laid out in the Governor’s January budget proposal.
The Leadership Group will meet with her in our new BASE Lines (Bay Area Sustainability and Energy) series to discuss solutions to the climate crisis and the policies and investments needed to make them happen. It’s going to be an engaging conversation so don’t forget to bring your questions!
If you wish to sponsor this roundtable, please reach out to SVLG’s VP of Events, Shannon De Atley-Johnon at email@example.com.
Lauren Sanchez has over a decade of experience in tackling the climate crisis from government, academic and non-profit roles at the global, national and local levels. Prior to joining the Biden-Harris Administration, she was deputy secretary for climate policy and intergovernmental relations at the California Environmental Protection Agency and international policy director at the California Air Resources Board from 2017 to 2021. She was a climate negotiator at the U.S. Department of State from 2015 to 2017, serving on the Paris Agreement negotiation team.
