Justin Hyer is the Senior Vice President of Government Relations for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. In this role, he leads the group’s advocacy team in Sacramento and works to advance public policy priorities that support and further the innovation economy, California’s economic competitiveness, and quality of life for Silicon Valley residents.
Based in Sacramento, Justin provides the Leadership Group team with valuable insight into the workings of California’s Legislative and political processes, playing an integral role in communicating member company perspectives, building coalitions among stakeholders, and engaging leaders to drive sound policy change. Previously, Justin served as the Director of Government Affairs at a political consulting and public affairs firm headquartered in Sacramento. There he managed strategy for corporate and political accounts, working with Fortune 100 companies and industry groups to develop and execute effective political and public affairs campaigns. Justin’s previous experience also includes campaign management, media/public relations for corporate clients, and experience in political/government offices at the city, county and state level.
Justin is a graduate of the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship program. During his time as a Fellow in the California State Assembly, Justin managed half a dozen bills through the legislative process and played a critical role in shaping his office’s communications strategy. Justin is also a graduate of Equality California’s Leadership Academy, a program dedicated to equipping the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders for public service.
Justin grew up in the small farm town of Winters in Northern California and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Azusa Pacific University. He now lives in the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento and in his free time, Justin enjoys sweating it out in a spin class and tackling yet another DIY project around the house.
