Silicon Valley Leadership Group Urges Legislative Action Today on Health Care Reform
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group, among the first business associations to support Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s health care reform efforts, today urged the state Assembly to pass the governor’s Health Care Security and Cost Reduction Act as vital legislation for California employers and their employees.
“We strongly urge the Assembly to act today and move this bill to the Senate for swift approval,” said Carl Guardino, CEO of the Leadership Group, a public policy organization with 250 member companies in and around Silicon Valley, representing some 250,000 jobs.
“This legislation will reduce costs for business, provide additional tax savings to employers and employees, promote prevention and wellness for a more productive workforce, and ensure that employers do not bear more than their fair share of costs for health care reform,” said Guardino. “After many long months of work and commitment, the governor has brought forth a bold plan for reform that the Legislature must enact now.”
