Silicon Valley Leadership Group Commends Governor's Stand on AB 8 and His Intention to Call a Special Session of the Legislature
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group today commended Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's opposition to AB 8 and his intention to call a special session of the state Legislature to forge comprehensive health care reform for California.
"Like the governor, we applaud the legislative efforts to address comprehensive health care reform, but we also share his concern that AB 8 does not cover all Californians nor does it address the need for shared responsibility," said Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, which has actively supported efforts to enact health care reform this year. "Because both of those elements are vital to comprehensive reform, we are heartened that the governor believes a special session is warranted to achieve reform that truly fixes our broken health care system."
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group represents 210 of Silicon Valley's most respected employers on issues, programs and campaigns that affect the economic health and quality of life in Silicon Valley, including energy, transportation, education, housing, health care, tax policies, economic vitality and the environment.
