The Silicon Valley Leadership Group is organizing two water workshops, addressing strategies for local water conservation as well as state water management and policy options.

Drought conditions, Delta pumping curtailments in 2008, controversy over water bonds and climate change pose challenges to clean, reliable sources of water in our workplaces and in our homes. In order to prepare for an uncertain water future, we all need to roll up our sleeves and make our voices heard!

Speakers:

  • Greg Zlotnick
Special Counsel for Strategic Planning and Delta Policy, Santa Clara County Water District

  • Alan Gordon
Principal Consultant to Senator S. Joseph Simitian

  • Barry Nelson (invited)
Senior Policy Analyst and Co-director of the Western Water Project, Natural Resources Defense Council

Topics to be covered:

  • Major state water policies currently being discussed and debated
  • How state water policies affect local policy – a look to the future
  • The role of water efficiency and other demand management strategies in statewide policy
  • The importance of making your voice heard to ensure a cost-effective, reliable system for all in the future

Cost: $15
